The short answer

My verdict

A solid booster that enhances the absorption of subsequent skincare steps. The prickling sensation is real—and intensifies when layering toner and creams—but for my dry, somewhat sensitive skin, it made my entire routine work harder.

I bought VT COSMETICS CICA Reedle Shot 100 myself after seeing countless recommendations advising beginners to start with the 100 strength rather than jumping straight into higher concentrations. I have dry, somewhat sensitive skin and tend to be cautious before trying anything active or stimulating.

I finished that entire first bottle over roughly 3 to 4 months, and I repurchased it. Here is my honest experience with how it felt, how I layered it, and why I decided it was worth buying a second time.

How the First Use Actually Felt (The Prickle Factor)

When I first applied Reedle Shot 100, there was an immediate, distinct prickling or tingling sensation.

Because Reedle Shot contains microscopic mineral-derived spicules designed to create tiny pathways to help ingredients absorb, you feel that physical micro-texture upon contact. What surprised me most was what happened after applying it:

Since Reedle Shot is applied as the very first step right after cleansing onto bare skin, every subsequent product you apply over it—toner, essence, nourishing cream, and moisturizer—presses those micro-needles slightly further into the skin. As a result, the tingling actually intensifies as you layer your next skincare steps.

It feels unusual at first, but for me, it was a tolerable, prickly sensation rather than a burning allergic reaction.

My Real Application Routine & Schedule

  • Application step: Immediately after washing my face on bare, dry skin.
  • Amount: Exactly 3 pumps in the evening.
  • Frequency: Roughly once every 3 days (not every night).
  • Bottle lifespan: It took me about 3 to 4 months to completely empty the first bottle using this schedule.
  • Layering sequence: Reedle Shot 100 → Hydrating Toner → Essence/Serum → Nourishing Cream / Barrier Moisturizer.

When I Skipped It

Because my skin is sensitive, consistency didn’t mean forcing it every 3rd day without exception. On days when my skin felt irritated, sensitized, or compromised, I intentionally skipped Reedle Shot and focused purely on basic gentle barrier care until my skin calmed down.

What Changed on My Skin

Reedle Shot 100 isn’t a magical standalone serum that delivers hydration or anti-aging on its own. Rather, its primary value is acting as a penetration enhancer and routine booster.

  1. Refined Skin Texture: After regular use every 3 days, my skin texture felt noticeably smoother and better refined.
  2. Amplified Product Absorption: The biggest difference was how well my skin drank up whatever I applied on top. Products that previously sat on the surface sank in much deeper and worked more noticeably.
  3. Multiplier Effect: Instead of buying another expensive serum, using Reedle Shot felt like it upgraded the efficacy of the 3 to 4 products I already owned.

The Downsides & Cautions for Sensitive Skin

Even though I love this product and repurchased it, there are a few realities you need to know before buying:

  • Tingling and temporary redness: If your skin barrier is thin or highly reactive, you might experience redness and a sharper sting. If you are very nervous, starting with Reedle Shot 50 is a safer entry point.
  • The sensation is normal: A mild prickle is the intended physical mechanism. In fact, if you feel absolutely nothing at all, you might feel like the product isn’t working as intended.
  • Gentle pressure only: Do not aggressively rub it in. Gently spread it across the skin and press softly so you don’t unnecessarily irritate your barrier.

Why I Repurchased It

The reason I bought a second bottle came down to cost-per-benefit:

It suited my dry, somewhat sensitive skin without triggering breakouts, and by significantly improving the absorption and performance of my subsequent toners, serums, and barrier creams, one single bottle made three or four other skincare products perform noticeably better. That made it well worth the repurchase.

Who It May Suit

  • Those who feel their current skincare products sit on top of their skin without absorbing deeply.
  • Combination or normal skin types looking to smooth out rough surface texture.
  • Anyone looking for an effective absorption booster without jumping straight into invasive treatments.

Who Should Be Cautious

  • Highly compromised, damaged, or peeling skin barriers (repair your barrier with soothing creams first).
  • Anyone with active, inflamed cystic breakouts or open lesions.
  • Those who cannot tolerate physical prickling sensations during their skincare routine.
