The short answer

My verdict

After one month, my skin looks brighter, smoother, and more even. The watery texture fits easily into my morning routine, and while I feel a very slight tingle at first, it fades as the serum absorbs without leaving redness or lasting irritation.

I was looking for a vitamin C serum that my somewhat sensitive skin could tolerate. Despite the high 23% concentration, this one has worked well for me so far.

I bought COSRX The Vitamin C 23 Serum myself from Amazon. This is a one-month review of how it has felt and looked on my dry, somewhat sensitive skin, not a long-term dark-spot study.

My skin and how I tested it

My skin is dry and somewhat sensitive. I have been using the serum for about one month.

I use it in the morning about five days a week. I skip days because I sometimes forget, not because my skin needs a break. On my skin, it has been comfortable enough that I could use it daily, but that is my experience only.

I apply about five to six drops. That is what I use, not a rule for everyone. COSRX’s product page suggests a few drops; I simply use a little more to cover my face the way I prefer.

In the morning, my order is:

  1. Toner
  2. COSRX The Vitamin C 23 Serum
  3. Wait until it absorbs
  4. Moisturizer
  5. Sunscreen

That matches the morning path in my morning and evening routine: keep the treatment step steady, then finish with moisture and SPF.

Texture, absorption, and scent

A lot of vitamin C products I have tried felt sticky. This serum feels much closer to water. It runs thinly from the dropper and spreads easily.

Right after I pat it in, my skin can feel a little taut. As it settles, that feeling softens into a smoother finish. I would not call it completely non-sticky for every person; for me, it is far less sticky than many vitamin C serums I have used.

It has a slightly earthy scent. It is not particularly pleasant, but it is not strong or unpleasant enough to bother me.

What I noticed after one month

After about a month, my skin tone looks brighter and more even. The surface also feels smoother to me. That brighter-looking finish is the main reason I am happy with the serum so far.

I have noticed a small change around dark spots, but the difference is limited and the testing window is still short. I am not saying the spots disappeared, and I would not treat one month as proof of long-term pigment change.

These are my observations on my skin. They are not a guarantee of the same result for anyone else.

Did it irritate my sensitive skin?

When I first apply the serum, I feel a very slight tingle. Once it absorbs, that feeling goes away. I have not had lingering redness, lasting sting, or other irritation from it.

That combination matters to me: a brief initial tingle, then a calm finish. 23% is still a high concentration. I would not describe this serum as gentle for every sensitive skin type, or as a product that will never irritate. It has simply been manageable for mine so far.

How I use it in the morning

After toner, I apply five to six drops, wait for absorption, then move on to moisturizer and sunscreen. I do not skip sunscreen on mornings when I use the serum.

COSRX also advises following vitamin C with moisturizer and daytime SPF, which lines up with how I already finish my mornings.

I use the serum about five days a week. If you try it, start with what your own skin can handle rather than copying my drop count or schedule.

Storage and oxidation

I keep the bottle in the refrigerator. Pure vitamin C (L-ascorbic acid) can oxidize over time, so COSRX advises refrigerating it around 3 to 10°C after opening. I originally planned to finish the bottle within about three months, but COSRX recommends using it within two months after opening, so I am trying to finish it sooner.

What I like

  • Watery texture that feels less sticky than many vitamin C serums I have tried
  • Easy fit in my morning routine
  • Brighter-looking tone after about one month
  • Smoother-feeling skin texture
  • No lingering redness or lasting irritation for me so far

What to know

  • 23% is a high concentration
  • I feel a brief initial tingle that fades after absorption
  • The scent is not especially pleasant
  • Refrigeration and finishing the bottle matter more than with a simple moisturizer
  • One month is too early for a strong dark-spot verdict

Would I repurchase it?

Yes. It fits my morning routine well enough that I expect to buy it again.

I still want more time before I make a stronger claim about dark spots. For brightness, texture, and comfort after one month, though, this vitamin C serum has earned a place in my rotation.
